Infrastructures for Russian troops stationed in the Arctic region will be mostly ready by the end of this year, the Northern Fleet staff's press service said.
"The construction of modern high-tech military infrastructures on Arctic islands, which will support Russian interests in the northernmost areas of the Arctic, are expected to be completed for the most part in 2016," said the report seen by Interfax-AVN on May 31.
An active phase of cargo deliveries to Arctic islands for the Northern Fleet needs has begun in the seas of the Arctic Ocean, the report said. Chartered ships are making regular trips from the ports of Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and Kandalaksha, where Arctic supplies are being stockpiled under control of Northern Fleet specialists.
