The government has tasked the Defense Ministry with negotiating with its Uruguayan counterpart and, upon reaching an accord, signing the agreement without introducing amendments of principle into it.
The draft agreement states that the Russian Federation and Uruguay shall cooperate in military medicine and exchange their opinions and information on defense matters, strengthening of mutual confidence, bolstering of international security, stepping up of the fight against terrorism and promotion of arms control.
The two countries also are intent on exchanging the lessons learnt from UN peacekeeping and peace support operations and on cooperating in maritime search and rescue.
