Russia’s government has approved a bill that will allow redistributing up to 10 percent of funds that are allocated for defense and security in accordance with the budget, Aide to the Finance Minister Svetlana Nikitina said.
"The government has approved a bill that allows redistributing no more than 10 percent of funds that are allocated for defense and security in accordance with the federal law on the budget," Nikitina said.
"The talk is about the redistribution of funds, i.e. the transfer of allocations from one project to another within the budget limits," she added.
As the finance and economic sector of the Russian government told TASS, the talk is only about the redistribution of funds that are planned to be allocated.
The relevant decision will be made by spending units and agreed with the Finance Ministry.
"If the Defense Ministry decides to transfer some of the funds from one project to another one, it can do so by agreement with the Finance Ministry without introducing amendments to the federal law on the federal budget. However, the talk is only about 10 percent of the funds allocated," Nikitina said.
