The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Oct. 6 its decision to strip Russian high jumper Anna Chicherova of the 2008 Olympic bronze after the reanalysis of her doping sample tested positive for the banned performance enhancing drug turinabol.
The IOC informed the Russian Olympic Committee in May that 14 Russian athletes were suspected of using doping at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Suspicions emerged against the Russians after their doping samples were re-examined at the initiative of the IOC.
