"Insect is a perfect pet", says entomologist & herpetologist Andrei Yermakov.
For more than 10 years, Andrei has been breeding invertebrates. His collection includes several thousand individuals – 40 spider species, 20 species of cockroaches, several species of Julida, as well as frogs, lizards and even birds. Andrei is happy to talk about his pets and tries to instill a love for these creatures to people around him. Several years ago, Andrei organized classes on the enviroment for students at a local school.
In his spare time, when he is not communicating with spiders and children, Andrei works as a doctor at a veterinary clinic, where he treats exotic animals and birds. He admits that he has still not gotten used to some species despite the years of practice.
"I'll tell you a secret: I try not to take spiders with hands, too. Because some of them are very poisonous."
