According to the Autostat car market research agency there are about 650 electric cars on the road in Russia. The number remains quite low as the EV market faces various obstacles, one of which is a lack of charging stations.
Electric car charging stations are being developed in Moscow by the Moscow United Electric Grid Company, which currently operates 28 charging points.
A new station opens on April 22 on Bolshaya Bronnaya Street in the city center, with 150 more to be opened by the end of 2016.
Aside from the infrastractural complications, the market also struggles with high prices and customers' doubts about the ability of electric vehicles to withstand Russia's rough weather conditions.
