Folk box: Summer's crown

In case you are wondering where we are right now, well, we are in the Russian woods in summer – judging by the birdsong – in central Russia. Their voices are imitated with amazing conviction by folk wind instruments.

Summer is such a brief period of time in our part of the world, all the more reason to dedicate this feature to it, since summer is in its prime right now. “The dog days of summer” - is how they refer to it, I believe? In Russian folklore style, we call this time of year ‘Summer’s crown’.
