In his central Moscow apartment Denis Perestoronin has created a genuine Russian chamber.
In fitting out his apartment, Denis wanted to create not just a house in the Russian style, but an authentic Russian house. It is by no means posturing or the need to be original, but an honest reflection of his personality: his life, hobbies and professions. Denis is an antique dealer specializing in icons and Russian folk art, and a renowned collector and connoisseur of manuscripts, early printed books and archival materials.
Denis was born in 1973 to a white-collar Soviet family. After graduating from high school, he lived for a few years at the Orthodox Old Believers’ Church in the settlement of Mikhailova near Moscow. As the church preceptor, he studied the rules of the liturgy from the antique books in the church library. At around the same time, Denis started collecting such books and icons.
