Students making an ice hole with an auger during a class as part of Ice Mechanics, an annual international winter course at Far Eastern Federal University, in the Novik Bay off Russky Island. The course was launched in 2015 and is aimed at advancing the development of world ocean resources. Students are to conduct experiments to test the hardness of the ice cap and to learn more about ice properties and ice structure.
