Flying aces perform loop-the-loops in the Russian sky

RUSS is a flying aerobatic team. They perform death-defying tricks in the air with the greatest of ease: the loop-the-loop performed simultaneously by four planes, 360-degree turns in mid-air, and the vertical break maneuver in which the planes fly straight up and split their formation. Today, the RUSS squadron is a world-class team of ace synchronized pilots.

The group's "cherry on top" is the airshow's colorful accompaniment. Each plane is equipped with a system of generating colored smoke, which makes it possible to present well-known maneuvers in a new light.

The planes all take off together, which is especially unique when compared to civil aviation. They literally fly wing to wing. You can even see what the pilot in the next jet is doing.

The group performs extremely difficult stunts, such as the "Tulip", a maneuver in which five planes fly up and separate. At this moment, pilots start to feel gravitation force (g-force), a serious challenge for the human body.

Some of the program's invariable treats are the group's pass in tight formation; simultaneous individual dead loops; the "mirror", a stunt which features one plane flying upside-down under another; and, the "Khokhloma", an aerobatic figure whose form resembles a traditional Russian Khokhloma painting.
