The Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (NCCP) is one of the world’s leading producers of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants and research reactors in Russia and other countries. It is the only producer of metallic lithium and lithium salts in Russia. NCCP is part of the TVEL Fuel Company which is affiliated with the ROSATOM State Corporation.

September 25, 1948 is considered to be the date that the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant was founded. On this day, the Council of Ministers of the USSR approved a resolution to build the Novosibirsk State Plant for processing uranium ore.

NCCP has over 25 years of experience in producing nuclear fuel for energy purposes. Nearly half of Ukraine and Bulgaria’s total energy comes from nuclear power plants that use fuel produced in Novosibirsk.

The pellets are annealed, or treated with heat, in ovens at temperatures no lower than 1750 degrees Celsius in a hydrogen reducing atmosphere for 20+ hours.

This is where zirconium tubes are filled with uranium dioxide pellets. Fuel rods in their finished stage reach nearly 4 meters in length. These fuel rods are then used to gather nuclear fuel. Even the wheels have covers on them.
