The dimensions of the cathedral, built in 1903-1913 in the neo-Byzantine style, are awe-inspiring. The main dome stretches more than 26 meters across and is over 70 meters high, making it the tallest building in Kronstadt.
In Soviet times, the cathedral was closed to the faithful, and the building was used as a house of culture for film screenings, meetings and even dances. Only in 2012, after several years of painstaking restoration, was the church reopened to parishioners.
