Five people were injured as a result of an explosion at a bus stop on Pokrovka Street in the center of Moscow, a spokesman for the Russian capital's health department told Interfax on Dec. 8.
"The latest reports indicate that four people were injured as a result of the incident. Three of them were admitted to the Sklifosovsky Emergency Medicine Institute," the spokesman said.
One of the three injured people admitted to the Sklifosovsky Emergency Medicine Institute has already been discharged, meaning that two injured persons are still being treated at this clinic, he said.
Another person injured in the blast received medical care at the scene and refused to be taken to hospital, the spokesman said.
An improvised explosive device could have blown up at the bus stop in central Moscow.
"The preliminary information available indicates that an improvised thunder flash thrown from a passing car or from a window of a multi-storey building could have caused the explosion," Moscow police spokesman Andrei Galiakberov told Interfax on Dec. 7.
For his part, a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax that the explosive device detonated at the public transport stop in the center of Moscow is believed to have contained the equivalent of 50 grams of TNT.
