Buranovskie Babushki, who came second with their rousing Party for Everybody song, successfully put up a vocal and culinary show in the final and proved that the rule saying “the old should make the way for the young” does not always work in art.
Galina Koneva, one of the members of the Buranovskie Babushki folk group, said after the final: “We are not upset, we are even delighted. Everyone feared that we would let Russia down with our lapty (bast) shoes. But we managed to get into this Eurovision contest with these lapty.
