Imanni Burg has been living in Russia for 4 years. She moved to Moscow when her husband was invited to teach at the Higher School of Economics.
Back in the United States, Imanni worked for various social organizations, so on arriving in Moscow she joined MPC Social Services. MPC stands for Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy, founded in 1962 and providing social services since 1991. As a development director at MPC Social Services, Imanni is in charge of launching new social programs, such as food and medical aid, as well as Russian language classes for foreigners.
Imanni’s schedule looks hectic, but she seems to enjoy it: “For people who know they're here for two years, say, it’s all about counting down the time. I really like being here in a more open-ended way, because it means I can immerse myself every day and live my life in Moscow to the full,” she says.
